Ear gauging is a popular body modification that stretches the earlobe to sometimes more than an inch in diameter. It is fashionable and socially acceptable among younger people and falls along the same lines as tattoos and body piercings. As many young people leave school and begin to search for professional employment, they find that their ears can hinder them from finding a job. Repairing gauged ears is a relatively new procedure in the field of cosmetic surgery, but surgeons are successfully getting results that satisfy their patients.

What facial rejuvenation treatment(s) do you recommend to treat wrinkles stemming from years of smoking? I’m from West Palm Beach and I’m looking for something non-surgical.
Laser resurfacing along with volume enhancing fillers are good for your situation.

I'm interested in getting injectable fillers in my cheeks. It seems like this is mostly done for aging reasons, but I'm 24 and just want more pronounced cheekbones without getting surgery. Would fillers be good for me?
Volume enhancing regenerative fillers such as Sculptra or Radiesse are perfect for your situation.

How often can I enhance my lips with an injectable filler?
Fillers that are used in lips can typically last from 4-6 months. They can be repeated as often as needed to maintain the effect.

Does the size of the ears affect how much improvement you can get from otoplasty?
No. Otoplasty reshapes and repositions the ears regardless of size.

Are there certain characteristics specific to the Mediterranean nose that are often addressed during rhinoplasty?
Many “Mediterranean” noses are long, have a prominent dorsum and dependent tip. How much of an ethnic change is done depends on individual desire.

I'm African American with what I think is a somewhat unusual nose for my ethnicity. My nasal tip is bulbous, however instead of a flat nasal bridge I have a bump. Can my nose be made more refined and the hump removed?
Yes. All of these concerns can be addressed with your rhinoplasty.

I am sorry you are unhappy with your result. Any time there has been previous surgery there is scar tissue present. This fact plus the unknown amount of removal of cartilage by the previous surgeon is what makes most revision procedures more tedious and take longer. I usually advise waiting a year before revision.

I would like a nose job to remove or reshape a rather large, bulbous tip. Does this require general anesthesia? Will my nose be packed afterwards? How long does the bruising usually last?
Rhinoplasty can be performed under local with sedation anesthesia or general anesthesia. I usually give patient’s the choice (most choose general). I do not pack my rhinoplasty noses. It is not necessary with the techniques I use and saves my patients from major discomfort. Bruising is usually gone in 7-10 days.

I have a “piggish” nose. It is upturned so much you can see inside my nostrils. I want a nose job. How long is the recovery time for rhinoplasty? Will I need to remain in bed the following day?
Patients recover fairly quickly from rhinoplasty. I usually remove a patient’s splint at one week and let them start getting back to normal activity with a few restrictions involving lifting, straining etc. Patient’s do not need to remain in bed post operatively.
