Question:

I’m from Pompano Beach and I'm Greek. I have a horrible hump on my nose... very pronounced... plus the tip of my nose hangs very low. To be honest, my nose looks like the typical witch's nose. I want a normal looking nose and I imagine this will require some pretty drastic change. Can a drastic change still work with my features and look good and natural?

Answer:

Absolutely! The art of rhinoplasty is balancing the nose with the rest of the face. One of the things that currently makes your nose look so bad to you is that it is probably way out of proportion to the rest of your face. During your consult we can do some computer imaging to show you the changes in your nose will be done to harmonize with your face.

Question:

I'm African American and I feel like my nose is too wide and too big for my face. I do not want to look like a Barbie doll afterward. How do you improve my nose without it looking fake and unnatural, particularly in relation to my ethnicity?

Answer:

This type of question is where I find pre operative computer imaging to be very helpful. You and your surgeon can agree on the amount of change desired before the procedure.

Question:

I have a fairly large nose, which I’m really not that bothered by. It’s big and it’s long, but again I’m okay with that. What I don’t like are my nostrils. These too are large and seem very noticeable. Can they be fixed or would smaller nostrils look strange on my large nose?

Answer:

This is a good situation to use computer imaging in your consult. It's not uncommon for patients to want only one area done and not realize that afterward because of that other parts of the nose will be unbalanced and need to be corrected. Seeing it beforehand with a computer image may prevent disappointment and need for a second procedure.

Question:
I think of my nose as a sort of patrician nose. However, there is a slight bump towards the top that I’m bothered by. Can this be slightly improved while leaving the rest of my nose intact?
Answer:
It can if that is what you wish. This is a good situation to use computer imaging to see what that would look like if you did just a limited procedure. It's not uncommon for patients to want only one area done and not realize that afterward because of that other parts of the nose will be unbalanced and need to be corrected. Seeing it beforehand with a computer image may prevent disappointment and need for a second procedure.
