Question:

How exactly does a facelift give someone a younger appearance? Is the skin being tightened?

Answer:

Facelifts reposition and suspend skin and deeper tissues that descended with aging. They are most effective for sagging neck, cheek and jowls. Most accepted techniques that provide long term and effective results tighten the underlying muscle covering (SMAS) to provide the result. Skin is very elastic and any technique that relies on skin tightening alone will not last more then a few months as the skin will stretch out again in a short time.
