Question:

I’m nervous about putting any foreign object in my body and was wondering what exactly a chin implant is made of.

Answer:

Currently in the United States most implants are made of either solid silicon or Medpor. Both are very safe in regards to their composition, but carry the risks of displacement and infection requiring removal as all implants do.

Question:

Can facial implants in the cheekbones affect the health of your teeth?

Answer:

No. They are external to the upper and ower jawbones and should not have any effect.

Question:

My husband used to be a cop and during one of his patrols his jaw was broken by someone he was arresting.  Its long healed, but has never quite looked the same.  Would a chin implant help to reset the look of his face?

Answer:

Implants can definitely help mask assymmetries and areas of deficiency. Depending on the deformity from the injury it might even be more worth it to "reset" the bone with various reconstructive techniques.
