I've seen people who have gotten collagen in their lips and they look horribly disfigured. Are there better products now for enhancing the lips?
I'm interested in some type of filler for lip enhancement and I was wondering if it cannot just change the size but the shape too so that I have more of a pout.
Yes. Juvederm or other hyaluronic acid filler can be used to tailor the look you want.
I have some very deep wrinkles above my upper lip. I had Juvederm injected there but I really didn't like the results because it looked bumpy and I still had the wrinkles. Is it the product that was used or more the doctor's technique that would be to blame?
There really is no great answer to the small lines around the lip. Fillers are of limited benefit. Ablative lasers and deep peels are the most helpful.
Does Juvederm work on 11's between the eyes?
The deep lines in this area are due to active muscle contraction and thus are best treated with Botox or other muscle toxins. They can be touched up with Juvederm if still visible after the muscles are relaxed.
I heard there's one type of Juvederm that has lidocaine in it. Does this mean that other Juvederms and other types of injectable fillers don't have lidocaine? And are injections painful enough that this is necessary?
Every patient has different levels of tolerance for injections of Juvederm. Some patients require no numbing agents or anesthesia at all. For others there are many ways to avoid pain with numbing creams, nerve blocks or local anesthetic mixed with the filler. A consultation with a board certified surgeon will help you determine what’s the best alternatives for you.
I scar easily and I am worried about my Juvederm injections. Since Juvederm contains chemicals normally found in bone material, can it calcify and cause hardened areas around the injections site?
You are confusing Juvederm with Radiesse. Juvederm is made from hyaluronic acid which is a protein found in skin. It does not contain calcium or bone materials. Radiesse is made from hydroxyapatite which is the calcium mineral non living component of bone. It is meant to be injected in deeper layers of skin so that "clumps" cannot be seen or felt.
While I would love to have my lips enhanced, I am worried about possible complications. What type of filler do you use for lips and what are the problems associated with that filler? Can the filler be removed if the lips don’t look right?
The best choice for you would be a hyaluronic acid filler (juvederm or restylane). It will only last a few months or if you really don't like it then it can be dissolved with hyaluronidase injection.
What is the most painless technique to smooth glabellar wrinkles? Is Juvederm or Radiesse effective for this?
Botox or Dysport works best in the glabellar region. This can be supplement with filler if the lines are already etched in the skin.
