I had a facelift two years ago in Seattle but I don't really feel like it did much for my neck. I’ve since moved to West Palm Beach and I’d like to address this. Is it possible to now have a necklift and where will the incisions be?
It's hard to say without a direct exam, but depending on where your old incisions are they may be used as the site.
After my neck lift, how many days will it be that I'm totally out of it and in bed?
Few patients are not out of bed the next day. Resumption of full activity varies with patient and procedure from 5 days to 2 weeks.
I've heard the terms cervicoplasty and platysmaplasty in reference to the neck lift. What are these? Are these types of necklift techniques?
I would expect them to refer to neck procedures involving tightening of the underlying platysma muscle but the definition may vary from doctor to doctor.
I've always had a full lower face. I'm 44, male, and as I've gotten older my neck has become even less defined. This is all that I'm really concerned about so could a neck lift work for me or even just neck liposuction?
One or the other or some combination would likely meet your goals. This is best determined at your consultation.
There doesn't seem to be a lot of information out there about Ultherapy. Can you explain what it is, what it treats, and how effective it is?
Ultherapy is an ultrasound based treated which is said to be able to penetrate and heat deep fascia and muscle beneath the skin with resultant neck skin tightening. As with all ‘wonder’ technologies the company promises miracles and while many doctors anecdotally report some nice results there is still not yet enough experience with it to know if it truly delivers for the price.
I've lost a lot of weight over the past year. In my face, this is most visible in my neck where there's a lot of loose, sagging skin. Can a neck lift improve this?
Loose sagging skin is best treated with neck lift. As long as you are at or within 10 lbs of the weight you are going to maintain then go ahead.
How long is a typical necklift surgery?
Necklifts can take from 2-4 hours depending on the extent of dissection and lifting necessary.
I had a necklift several years ago and the results were great but I'm starting to see the beginning of jowls again. Is there some reason why the results have only lasted a few years and what should I do now?
Face and neck lifts turn the clock back but don't stop it. Each patient ages at a different rate. Some techniques may provide greater longevity then others but sometimes in certain patients it doesn't matter what technique was used. I suggest you contact your surgeon and see what your options are. Some patients only need a minor touchup lift in this situation.
My neck has become very saggy. What are some of my options for firming it up?
While there has been some progress with Thermage and Ultherapy, saggy neck skin almost always needs some form of face or neck lift procedure to correct.
I recently lost a lot of weight and I have a lot of sagging skin in my neck. What's the best way to improve this?
Sagging skin almost always needs a neck lift to correct and reestablish a smooth jaw neck line appearance. Be certain though that you are going to stay at your new weight before having any procedure.
