Question:

My nose has always had a hook on the end that makes my profile imperfect. Will I have to have work done to my entire nose or can rhinoplasty be focused on one area of the nose?

Answer:

This is difficult to say without a direct exam. Sometimes this is possible but more often once you change the one area of concern, other areas are out of balance and need to be addressed.

Question:

I had a nose job 7 years ago and I've always liked my results but recently my nose seems to have changed. I recently retired to Coral Springs and I'd like to get it fixed. Would this be considered revision rhinoplasty?

Answer:

Yes. If there has been a previous rhinoplasty all new procedures are considered revisions.

Question:

I'm Middle Eastern and I'm looking to get a rhinoplasty to have a softer looking profile. I also have a deviated septum that I would like to have fixed. Can both be done at the same time?

Answer:

Yes both procedures are commonly done together known as septorhinoplasty.

Question:

How do you improve flared or otherwise large nostrils of an African American patient?

Answer:

Flared nostrils are improved with a technique commonly called alar base resections. These are tailored to each individual to remove the right amount from the right location.

Question:

I am extremely unhappy with my rhinoplasty results. My nose is too thin and points upwards like a ski slope. I have gone to see 2 plastic surgeons since the surgery and they will not perform revision rhinoplasty on me until it is at least 6-12 months from my first surgery. Why do I need to wait so long?

Answer:

It is important to wait at least 12 months before revision in order to allow complete healing to occur. The reason for this is to prevent over or under correction of the problem areas if the intervention is done during a period when the nose is still changing.

Question:

I'm an African American female. I've never liked that my nose is really big and seems like it would look better on a man (my brother has the same nose and it's fine on him). How can I make my nose look more feminine and smaller?

Answer:

Rhinoplasty can help you address these issues with refinement and reduction.

Question:

I would like to remove a bulge at the end of my nose. It is just at the tip and does not involve my nostrils. How does a nose job fix the end of the nose? Will the extra tissue be cut off?

Answer:

Depending on what causes the "bulge" the solutions range from reshaping to conservative tissue removal to combinations of the two.

Question:

Some of the before and after pictures of nose jobs I’ve come across show very slight changes. I thought to undergo this procedure there had to be some monumental transformation. I am 32 years old, male and I want just a slight narrowing of the bridge of my nose. Is this something that can be done without an incision?

Answer:

You bring up an interesting point and one that I see more and more commonly these days. There are many patients who desire only small refinements and changes to their nose who are seeking rhinoplasty. This can usually be done easily with minimal incisions inside the nose only.

Question:

Can sinus surgery be performed at the same time as rhinoplasty and how is this done?

Answer:

Sinus surgery can be done during rhinoplasty if needed. Sinus surgery is usually done inside the nose in different and deeper locations that do not interfere with the areas that need to be worked on for rhinoplasty.
