Question:

I had septoplasty in Ft. Lauderdale and I thought the doctor had a good reputation, but the surgery led to a septal perforation. How is this fixed?

Answer:

I am sorry to hear about your problem. Septal perforations can happen in even the best of hands and are known possible adverse outcomes to septal surgery. If small and asymptomatic they require no treatment. Medium to large perforations can be repaired and closed if causing symptoms.

Question:

Would it be unwise for me to have a rhinoplasty if I have severe allergies and sinus issues?

Answer:

A good rhinoplasty should not affect your breathing in a negative way. If necessary, functional surgery can be added to enhance it.

Question:

Is it possible for the nose to get bigger from pregnancy? I always had a somewhat large nose but it never really bothered me. But after I had my second child it seemed like it had gotten larger and I really don't like it anymore.

Answer:

Although not "scientifically studied or proven" this is an observation made by many women. It may well be to structural changes in cartilage and ligaments from hormonal and weight fluctuations that occur during and after pregnancy.

Question:

I had a nose job and my nose looks pinched and I'm also having trouble breathing. Is this just caused by the swelling and will it get better once it goes down? Or is this something that I'll need a revision procedure for?

Answer:

It's hard to answer your question without knowing how long ago your surgery was and without photos or examination. If you are more than 6 months out you may need to talk to your surgeon about your concerns.
