The Pillar Implant procedure is a minimally-invasive treatment for mild obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) and snoring. Dr. Schwartz performs the procedure in his office using local anesthesia. It is a quick treatment which takes just fifteen minutes to complete.
During the Pillar Implant procedure, three tiny woven inserts are placed into the soft palate tissue. The inserts, or “pillars” add structural support and stiffen the soft palate, preventing vibration (snoring) and obstruction in the airway.
Recovery after the Pillar Implant procedure is immediate and there is minimal discomfort. Work and other normal activities can typically be resumed the same day, along with normal diet. Patients usually see improvement within four to six weeks.
