The Selphyl Procedure
What is the selphyl procedure?
The selphyl procedure is a revolutionary alternative to traditional dermal fillers which contain neurotoxins and synthetic ingredients. Instead, the selphyl procedure utilizes the platelet rich plasma (PRP) naturally occurring in each patient’s blood to create a platelet rich fibrin matrix that, when injected, stimulates the patient’s own body to produce naturally occurring collagen to smooth wrinkles and fill in hollows. This procedure repurposes a process that orthopedic doctors have used to speed tissue repair in order to increase the patient’s youthful appearance.
What is procedure process for the selphyl procedure?
Patients who choose the selphyl procedure can expect an in-office appointment that takes no more than thirty minutes. The doctor will draw a blood sample and spin that sample on a special platelet extracting centrifuge to collect the platelet rich plasma for injection into the patient. This plasma is then injected much like traditional dermal fillers.
Who is a candidate for a selphyl procedure?
The best candidates for this procedure are individuals no older than 65 who are not taking aspirin or anticoagulants and who are seeking a less expensive, natural alternative to traditional dermal fillers.
What are the benefits of a selphyl procedure?
In addition to the obvious benefits of smoother skin and a more youthful appearance, patients who choose the selphyl procedure can expect a safe, reliable experience with no allergic or adverse reactions since the process uses the patient’s own blood. This procedure also eliminates the bumps that can occur with other dermal fillers and can easily be performed during a patient‘s lunch hour.
What is the cost of a selphyl procedure?
There are currently around 300 doctors in the United States who perform the selphyl procedure for $900-1500.
Selphyl procedure FAQ

Some patients experience mild irritation, swelling, bruising, itching, discoloration, and tenderness at the injection site which clears within two days. No long term adverse or allergic reactions have ever been reported.
Where has Selphyl been discussed in the media?
The selphyl procedure has received media attention on “The Rachael Ray Show” and “The Doctors” and has been written up in respected periodicals such as The New York Times.
Why is it called a “vampire facelift?”
The term “vampire facelift” was coined because the procedure uses the patient’s own blood to create a natural dermal filler and as an homage to the trendy vampire culture in contemporary movies and books. Traditionally, vampires are immortal and remain youthful and beautiful forever, so the moniker seems fitting.
