I heard that sometimes it’s necessary to take cartilage from the ear to reconstruct the nose during a nose job. I don’t want my ears operated on. In what instance would that be necessary? Does it happen often?
Ear cartilage grafting is usually only required in revision rhinoplasty cases when the nose no longer has enough of it’s own to allow reshaping and support. It is rarely necessary in primary cases. When it is needed however it is usually not a problem for patients and there is no change in the shape or appearance of the ear.
