I’m African American and interested in undergoing rhinoplasty. In many cases of African American rhinoplasty, the nose seems to look like it has been narrowed unnaturally. I’m concerned about my profile and how my nose gets flat when I smile. How can this be fixed? Will raising the bridge of my nose with an implant help?
This is a common concern for African Americans who undergo rhinoplasty. While many want tip shaping and narrowing a certain amount of width is very attractive in this group of patients. Many also need bridge augmentation as well. The choice of implant vs your own tissue is something that needs to be decided by each patient and surgeon.
