When you think of procedures that rejuvenate your face and help reduce the signs of aging, you might also think of procedures that involve a long recovery time. You’ll need at least a week or two to get back on your feet after a facelift, for example. But, not every procedure has a long recovery time or downtime.
After some treatments, you can get back to your life almost right away. As an added benefit, these treatments can be performed in a short amount of time, too. If you’re pressed for time but still want to fight the signs of aging on your face, consider one or more of these treatments. Your surgeon can recommend the treatment that’s right for you.
Botox Cosmetic might be the ultimate quick fix for wrinkles caused by muscle movements. The treatment itself takes about 10 minutes. You can schedule it on your lunch break and head back to work right away, or you can schedule it after work, then head home immediately.
The injection is used to treat the vertical frown lines that form between the eyebrows. It can also ease the appearance of crow’s feet in the corner of the eyes. If you have vertical bands on your neck, Botox injections can make them less visible.
Although the treatment itself takes just a few minutes, it does take a few days before the results appear. Typically, it takes about five to seven days for the lines to ease. Some people see full results after about two weeks. You might have some pain, swelling or redness at the treated area, but it should fade quickly.
If volume loss is an issue for you and you want a treatment that last for up to two years but can be completed in less than an hour, Juvederm Voluma might be right for you. Voluma uses a thicker form of hyaluronic acid than regular Juvederm. Instead of just filling in lines and wrinkles by the nose and mouth, it can actually fill in sunken areas by the cheeks.
The treatment takes about 45 minutes. It has a slightly longer recovery time than Botox, meaning you’ll want to take it easy for about a day. If you have any discomfort or bruising after the treatment, you should hold off on vigorous activity until after the discomfort has faded.
A liquid facelift isn’t exactly a facelift. Unlike the surgical procedure, it doesn’t lift or tighten areas of your face. Instead, it’s a combination of injections and fillers designed to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and to restore volume to the facial area. The treatment is ideal for you if you don’t yet have much skin looseness or sagging.
What exactly goes into a liquid facelift varies from patient to patient. During a consultation with the surgeon, you will both decide which fillers or injections are best for you. For example, your liquid facelift might include both Botox injections and Juvederm injections.
The procedure does require maintenance if you want to keep up the results. While you won’t have the lengthy recovery time of a surgical facelift, you will have to see the doctor on a semi-regular basis for touch-up. The frequency of your touch-ups depends on the type of injections you’ve received. While some injections last up to two years, others, such as Botox, require touch-ups every three months or so.
Also called a mini-facelift, the S-Lift can be ideal if you have some time to recover, such as a weekend or a few days, but aren’t quite ready for a full facelift. The procedure helps reduce sagging in the face and is usually recommended for people who don’t yet have a lot of looseness or sagging. It’s performed with local anesthesia and typically takes about 90 minutes to complete. It can be further customized based on a specific patient’s needs.
There is some downtime after the S-Lift. Recovery can take up to five days, after which you can go back to work. You’ll usually have to postpone exercise for a full two weeks after the procedure.
