What type of anesthesia is typically used for a nose job? I’ve read in some places where general is used, other times local and sometimes with sedation. Why the difference and what are the pros and cons?
It is often based on the comfort level of each individual surgeon and patient with each type. The anticipated length of time and complexity of the procedure comes into play as well. If I had to guess I’d say that most rhinoplasties in the US are currently done under general anesthesia. All are equally safe in healthy people if performed in an accredited, multispecialty MD anesthesia monitored facility.
